Director and
Principal....Miss Jackie Thompson
After a lifetime in
Dance, having toured the world first as a ballet
dancer, then as a professional Flamenco dancer for
many years, she then became a Fellow of Cecchetti
Ballet Australia, Cecchetti
International member, and holder of both the Royal
Academy of Dancing and Cecchetti Society's Advanced
Certificates. As well as running this Dance Centre for
over 35years, and still teaching Adults Ballet and Stretch classes, and most
classical ballet exam classes, Miss Thompson was also
the specialist Classical Dance teacher for performing
arts students in years 9, 10 & 11 at Charles
Campbell Secondary School for 3 years.
Miss Tara Patfull...........Passed
all Cecchetti Ballet exams from Pre-Primary to
Advanced 1 and with over 18years
teaching experience, she teaches all
classical classes from Baby Ballet to Intermediate, as well
as taking Jazz/Funk/Hip Hop classes from Prep to
Senior level and Beginner Adult Ballet. She has studied ballet and jazz for over
20 years, and Flamenco dance for 5 years. She is a
specialist Hip Hop teacher as well, having attended
many interstate and overseas Global Dance Conventions.
Her
firm but gentle manner is appreciated by both parents
and students alike.
Miss
Felecia Hick, is an independent artist whose
choreography has been nominated for many awards. She
trained in the Cecchetti method in Melbourne right up
to Advanced level before graduating from Adelaide University with
a BA(Honours) in Dance in 1999. She has worked in
Belgium, Vienna Hong
Kong, New York and Chicago, as well as closer to home
with Tasdance and Restless Dance Co, directed an Opera
Highlights program for the Elder School of Music as
well as lecturing in Dance at both Adelaide &
Flinders Universities.. For the past 2 years she has
also travelled to Taiwan to teach contemporary dance
at the University there. Felecia takes both Junior and
Senior Contemporary Dance classes on Thursday
evenings.
Miss Lauren McMahon.........Student
teacher, has been dancing ever since she could walk.
Her first role was that of the Indian Boy in A
Midsummer Night's Dream on the Festival Theatre stage
at the age of 2. She assists with the Junior Ballet
and Jazz levels as well as taking the childrens and
adultsTap
classes. After completing her Year 12 studies
and gaining her S.A.C.E, she is pursuing exams for
teaching qualifications in both Classical Ballet and
C.S.T.D. Tap. She excels at Hip Hop and StreetTap, having
danced in every L.A.Danceforce, GlobalDance and Hip
Hop Allstars workshop over the past 12 years, as well
as 2 trips to the Edge Studios in Los Angeles for
Advanced Hip Hop classes. After 2 years studying Sound
Engineering at Adelaide Uni, she also cuts and edits
all music used at Norwood Ballet Centre.
Areti Boyaci of Flamenco
Areti teaches
the Flamenco classes. As a professional artist and
teacher, she goes regularly to Spain, as well as
teachingt Flamenco at the Australian Ballet
School, and performing locally and interstate, she takes Intermediate and
Advanced Flamenco classes on Wednesday evenings from
7pm
Our small and
enthusiastic team of experienced teachers are well
qualified in their chosen fields to impart their
collective knowledge in a caring and friendly manner
to ALL students, to help build self-esteem and
enjoyment of dance in everyone, as well as
recognising, nurturing and developing the gifted
students.
